Is it OK to match dark countertops with light tile flooring – or do you always need to match dark with dark, and light with light?

A.

In short, yes, it is generally acceptable to mix a light floor with a dark countertop. The light and dark can add an interesting dimension to the space and make it unique to your house. Be careful in how you match items and remember that you do not always have to be overly “safe” with your concepts.
