Which colors go with grays and blues?

Q.  I have a light gray carpet throughout the house (possibly has a bit of blue in it) but I really don’t like the color blue. I love earth tones but that would not work with gray carpet? Cream, beige/ brown, light green? I am wondering what colors I could paint my living room and bedroom? Additionally, the kitchen has a blue marble like countertop – what color (other than gray & blue) could I paint the kitchen? Thanks so much 🙂

A. Of the colors you have mentioned above and from what we can tell about your home, you may want to consider a shade of green for the living room or bedroom and a shade of yellow for the kitchen. We would suggest getting a few samples and holding them against the gray carpet and the marble countertop. You would be amazed at how you can disguise the color of the carpet by the colors and furnishings you have around it. Another color option would be choosing a red hue with the green. Because red and green are complimentary colors (found opposite on the color wheel) they work well together if used in the right value (shade).
