The Tuckey family of companies enjoys a colorful history that spans some five decades. Founded in 1978, Tuckey Metal Fabricators, Inc. was officially the first of the three Tuckey companies to be incorporated by Kenneth L. Tuckey. Tuckey Mechanical Services, Inc., with origins dating back to 1968, joined the fold in 1981, followed by the third introduction to the Tuckey organization in 1995, when Tuckey Restoration, Inc. was incorporated. Working collectively and successfully as three separate entities, the Tuckey Companies are poised to provide an unmatched scope of services in the Central Pennsylvania region. By maintaining an unyielding focus on complete customer satisfaction, we eagerly anticipate the possibilities of the future, while never losing sight of the legacy of our past and the importance of our community.
Originating in 1968 as Frank Black Mechanical Services, the company provided plumbing, heating and air conditioning services primarily for the residential market. In 1981, Denver Tuckey purchased the company, renamed it Mechanical Services, and continued with the same service-driven focus it had maintained since its inception in 1968.
In 1984, Mechanical Services was purchased by Denver's oldest son, Kenneth Tuckey, who incorporated it as Tuckey Mechanical Services, Inc. Growth soon became rampant and expansion kept pace as Commercial and Industrial Departments were added to the mix. Eventually, the Service Department also expanded its scope of service by providing Preventive Maintenance Programs, a move that has proved to be beneficial to our customers and our company alike.
Today, projects completed by Tuckey Mechanical Services, Inc. can be found far and wide across Central Pennsylvania in both the Residential and Commercial markets. From Harrisburg to Chambersburg and from Hershey to Lancaster, notable projects include the Milton Hershey Schools, Cumberland County Prison, Sarah Todd Nursing Home, Cumberland County Courthouse, Perry County Courthouse, and Dickinson College's Waidner Library and Rector Science Center to name just a few.
In 1978, Kenneth Tuckey founded the company currently known as Tuckey Metal Fabricators, Inc. Three years later, Mr. Tuckey purchased L.B. Sheet Metal, merging the two into a single company and diversifying the services provided to include original equipment manufacturing (OEM), fabrication of pollution control equipment, handrails, jail cells, and a variety of unique custom designs and fabrications. This expansion of services paralleled the continual growth of the company's ductwork manufacturing for the HVAC industry.
In the early 90's, Tuckey Metal Fabricators, Inc. added a high definition plasma cutting machine. Using computer aided technology, the machine allowed the company to produce highly-defined pieces while reducing waste and dramatically increasing efficiency.
For the past 30 years, we've continued to help our customers meet the challenges of original equipment manufacturing (OEM) and custom fabricating. Today, the results of the company's quality workmanship can be seen across the country in a vast array of custom metal fabrications. In addition, our highly-skilled OEM department recently received the Supplier of the Year award from an ISO 9000 customer for whom we make machine guards and control panels.
Due to the reputation for quality built by Tuckey Mechanical Services, Inc. and Tuckey Metal Fabricators, Inc., the Tuckey organization was contacted in the early 1990's by local community leaders who identified a need for emergency repair for fire and water damaged property. Subsequently, Tuckey Restoration, Inc. was founded in 1992 as a division of Tuckey Mechanical Services, Inc. Responding to rapid growth, the restoration group branched off from its parent company and was incorporated in 1995, performing emergency board up, clean up, restoration, and reconstruction services after fire, water and storm damage.
Today, Tuckey Restoration Inc. has become an industry leader in Central Pennsylvania, continuing to provide fire, wind, water, and storm damage repair and restoration services. In addition, the company offers expertise on air quality issues including mold remediation, duct cleaning, project design services, and special project development. Our extraordinary team and technology includes two (of only a few hundred in North America) Certified Mold Remediation Specialists, complete project design and development services using AutoCAD software, and digital photo inventory systems for restored content warehousing. Further, as a member of Disaster Kleenup International (DKI), and the Restoration Industry Association (RIA), we are able to provide a pool of resources unparalleled in the restoration industry.
Tuckey Restoration, Inc. has been recognized by the State of Pennsylvania and given a citation for "Impeccable Workmanship" for a cleaning project done in the state capitol building in Harrisburg. In addition, the company has received a number of awards, including the prestigious Chrysalis Award for Remodeling Excellence, and an Historic Preservation Award from Preservation Pennsylvania.
