Looking to add some log cabin flair to your modern home decor?

Question.

I am decorating my new house (bare walls) in a cabin theme. I have chosen cabin red for the living room. Do I have to keep using dark colors for sitting room and kitchen to balance it out? Or can I use any color I want?

Answer.

You may want to consider using the same values throughout the house. For example, you may not want to use a pastel shade with a bright, bold hue. That does not necessarily mean they have to be dark. If you choose yellows, tans, or beiges, you may be able to keep the feeling, but incorporate colors that do not appear as dark.
