Still Answering the Call

September 22, 2026 | 7:29 pm

Some people map out their careers step by step. Others find a place that feels right and keep growing from there. For nearly 30 years, Hope has been doing just that at Tuckey.

Today, Hope serves as Tuckey’s Operations Director, but her career with the company began in a very different role. Before joining Tuckey Metal Fabricators, Hope grew up working alongside her parents in their small, mom-and-pop breakfast and lunch restaurant. It was the kind of place where regular customers’ orders never needed to be written down.

That early experience taught Hope the value of working hard, building relationships, and taking care of people. She brought those lessons with her nearly three decades ago when she interviewed for her first position at Tuckey as a Systems Coordinator.

A Feeling, Not Just an Offer

Hope didn’t choose Tuckey because of the number on the offer letter. What stayed with her after those first interviews was something harder to put on paper.

“I remember going home and saying to my husband, I don’t care what they offer me. I’ll take that job,” Hope says.

There was something about Tuckey that felt familiar.

“I don’t know if it was the family atmosphere, that it wasn’t this large corporate thing,” she says. “It just was a feeling I had.”

Nearly three decades later, that feeling has proven to be more than a first impression.

A Career Built by Saying Yes

Ask Hope to name every role she has held at Tuckey, and she has to stop and count.

She has worked as a Systems Coordinator, provided front-desk support, managed cleaning, served as an administrative assistant, and became general manager of Restoration, a role Matt now holds. Along the way, she even stepped into accounting when needed. “I was always kind of a constant,” Hope says.

That willingness to step in, learn something new, and help wherever she was needed has shaped Hope’s career. It’s also something she now encourages in others.

Today, Hope mentors younger employees who are rotating through different departments to learn more about the heart of the company and be open to discover where their own career might take them.

“It might be that they say to me one day, I really, really like service. I want to grow my career in service,” Hope says. “If that’s the case, let’s define that and work towards those goals.”

That same flexibility is part of Tuckey’s culture. When one area of the company slows down, employees have opportunities to learn and contribute elsewhere rather than simply being sent home.

For customers, that kind of cross-training means something important: Tuckey’s people bring a broad range of knowledge and experience to the work they do.

The Go-To Person Who Doesn’t Pretend to Know It All

As a long-tenured woman in a trades-driven industry, Hope has become a trusted resource for homeowners and customers navigating situations that may be unfamiliar or overwhelming. And yet – she doesn’t claim to have every answer.

“I don’t ever pretend to have all the answers,” she says. “But I know where to direct people to go.”

That may be one of the most valuable skills she has developed over the years. Having worked across so many areas of Tuckey, Hope knows who to call, which questions to ask, and what the next step should be.

“We’ll figure it out,” she says. “Somehow, some way.”

And while technology continues to change the way businesses operate, Hope believes one thing will never go out of style: having a real person who will listen.

“You want a real person,” Hope says. “I’m so happy somebody picked up. I’m so happy I could talk to somebody. That’s what we hear from our customers every day.”

Thirty Years, Still Answering the Call

Ask Hope why she has stayed with Tuckey for nearly 30 years, and the answer brings her right back to where she started. She found a company that felt like a family business, and she found a place where people genuinely care about one another. Over the years, Tuckey has grown and its services have expanded, but Hope says that sense of family remains.

For customers across the region, that matters. When your home or business needs restoration or mechanical services, you want experienced professionals who know what they’re doing. You also want people who will listen, communicate, and treat you with care.

Hope’s career is a reflection of that Tuckey approach. Because whatever the job requires, there’s someone at Tuckey ready to learn it, solve it, and help you through it. And, as Hope has done for nearly 30 years, someone will always be ready to pick up the phone.
