Featured Project

Addison-Centenary Building in Carlisle, PA

After a fire ravaged the historic building in 1999, Tuckey Restoration led the stabilization and board-up
process. While the future of the site was deliberated, Tuckey assisted with securing the buildings,
winterization, demolition, debris removal, mold remediation, and consulting.

Before
After

What Happened Next? 3-T Investors, LP, purchased the fire-damaged property in 2002 and began
developing the structure for commercial and residential units, averting demolition. 3-T Investors, LP is a sister
company to Tuckey Restoration. Over the next 15 months, Tuckey renovated the Centenary building and
began new construction on the adjoining Addison building.

Challenges. The replacement of aged structural elements with steel super-structure and manufactured wood I-joists
required nearly daily structural engineering involvement. Historically acceptable replacements for the ten-foot-high
curved top windows involved recruiting local artisans to craft functional windows. Maintaining existing door
and window locations and filling in missing brick-face and foundational stone-face sections called for
perseverance and patience.

Outcomes. The restoration of the Centenary-Addison Building demonstrates Tuckey Restoration’s ability to
balance modern residential and commercial demands with the requirements of historic preservation.
